Organization of the Library Collection


The Library materials are organized according to the Dewey Decimal Classification System (DDC). Library Materials can be searched using the Card Catalog and the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC). These finding aids contain records and other information of books, audio-visual materials and electronic resources that are available in the Bravo-Manjares Learning Center and Herman Krusi Library. Library users can have easy and quick access to library holdings through on-line search method such as author, subject, title, call number and series. Location symbols are indicated for quick retrieval of information sources that can be found in the library. These are shown below:

Recipients and Recognized Users


*     The library is open to the following as validated Identification cards of School ID:
§  Bonafide students of Southern Christian College   
§  Administrators, Faculty & Staff of SCC
§  SCC Board of Trustees and UCCP Pastors

*     Friends of the Library& SCC Alumni
§  Friends of the Library are researchers not presently enrolled or connected with SCC. They include SCC alumni and outside researchers who are subject to the rules and regulations of the SCC Library System and payment of P50.00 (per day per person) as admission fee which enable them to use and do research in the library. However, they are not allowed to borrow any library material for outside or home use and not allowed to use the online services of the Library.

*     Library Citizenship – Secure School ID and registration with the Library Monitoring 
              Utilization System.
*     Politeness and Courtesy – Observe/follow library general rules and regulations
*     Punctuality – Return borrowed library materials on due date/time
*     Honesty – Do not steal any library materials
*     Respect for Properties of the School – Do not tear or destroy library materials
*     Respect for the Rights of Others – Observe silence inside the library and consider privacy 
              of others
*     Neatness and Orderliness – Return library materials in proper places, throw garbage in 
              trash boxes

Goals and Objectives of the Library



1. To enrich, harmonize and support the academic and community programs of Southern Christian College in fostering lifelong learning.


2. To support the instructional process by acquiring informational and educational printed and non-printed library materials as required by the curriculum and the needs of its constituents.


3. To organize library materials for effective use.


4. To serve as a learning laboratory where clientele come to work critically and productively with ideas.


5. To stimulate and encourage the lifelong habit of good reading and to play its role in the wider realm of scholarship beyond the campus.


6. To respond to technological changes by monitoring and administer the increasing variety of formats: electronic, audio and video.


7. To provide instruction/orientation on the proper use of print, non-print, and electronic resources in a variety of ways, including workshops, electronic demonstrations of library collection.

Statement of Purpose

SCC Library will be the hub of an instruction and information network to support the educational and other programs of Southern Christian College by providing access to the excellent library resources that will lead students to wisdom and understanding with intellectual and ethical integrity. So that students may become more creative, reflective, productive and worthy citizens of the society.
