Library Health and Sanitation Guidelines

 

  • 1.     Before coming up the Library:

a.     Wash your hands using soap and water for 20-second at the faucet in the ground floor of the Center for Learning Commons. Hand wash is the best method of decontaminating your hands.

b.     Always use face mask inside the library/campus. 

  • 2.     At the Library Entrance and Exit:

a.     Use hand sanitizer and rub in until dry.

b.     Observe 1 meter distance away from other person.

c.      Fall in line using the footpath markers.

d.     Log-in your ID number in the LUMS.

e.       A number is given as you enter the library for monitoring purposes. 

  • 3.     Social distancing is strictly imposed upon entrance and while inside the library.

a.     Library seating. Tables and chairs are arranged and redesigned for:

                                                             i.      Small tables - 1 user only

                                                           ii.      Long/big tables – 2 to 4 users in both opposite ends 

b.     The library maintains a number of 160 persons (College Library) inside, at a time.

c.      The airconditioners will be put ON at 9:00 AM, and OFF at 4:00 PM.

d.     The library opens at 8:00 AM, and closes at 5:00 PM to have time to sanitize the whole area.

  • 4.     Using of library materials such as books, etc. inside the library.

a.     Bring your own alcohol and always disinfectants your hands.

b.     Leave all used/browsed books on the tables or chairs provided. A staff gathers them for quarantine/disinfection.

 

LIBRARY FACE TO FACE SERVICE

Desk Shifts of Staff/Student Assistants

  • Wear your mask especially in the information/circulation desks.
  • Use your own personal items like pens, towels/handkerchief, mobile phones, water bottles, etc.
  • Physical distance at least 1 meter away from other person.
  • Wash hands/sanitize before and after your desk shift.
  • No sharing of work stations during desk shifts.
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose or mouth, especially with unwashed hands.
  • Ensure spaces at each facility, surfaces and objects are regularly cleaned with disinfectant.
  • Follow strict hygiene measures at all times.
  • Wipe the work area/keyboard/mouse/monitor/screen/telephone handset with disinfectant after your desk shift to ensure it is clean for the next shift.
Returns and Discharge items after quarantine

  •         Put returned items/library materials onto a book truck for quarantine.
  •         A Staff is assigned to disinfect/sanitize the materials.
  •         A Staff process and place items in transit for reshelving in proper location.
