The Philippine Association of Academic and Research Librarians (PAARL) grants annual Awards to promote academic and
research librarianship, and specifically, to confer acknowledgment of not only
work well done, but as well as to give recognition of a person’s merit and a
special, deserved place within the library profession, and to cite the special
achievements of the academic and/or research libraries.
The Awards Ceremony immediately takes place after the
induction of the new Executive Board and its Officers for the incoming year.
This year, the Induction Ceremony of the 2018 Board and Officers was held at
Bulwagan ng Dangal at Gonzalez Hall of the University Library of UP Diliman on January
26, and immediately thereafter, the Committee on Awards led by Ms. Sharon Ma.
Esposo-Betan, presented the 2017 awardees.
Sandra Lyn Q. Quinones, Director of Libraries of
Southern Christian College is the recipient of the 2017 Academic Librarian of the Year
Award for Mindanao. She received the award during the awarding ceremony of PAARL held
at the University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City, Philippines
last January 26, 2018. She was accompanied by her supportive husband, Mr. Arfel
Quiñones.
