Guidelines for Wireless (Wifi) Internet Connection


Policies/Guidelines for Wireless Internet Connection

Wifi access is available to students with personal laptops only at wifi zones like the library, high school kiosks, tree houses and alumni garden. Access to the internet and information technology resources are to be used appropriately and in a manner consistent with the instructional, research, community service and administrative goals and objectives of the College.

Users of Wi-Fi are expected to have read, understood and strictly follow the prescribed Wi-Fi policies and guidelines, and observe standards of decency at all times. The Student’s internet account with the Cyber Library is convertible to wifi service/ access every semester, in condition that:

1. Only the bonafide students of SCC could avail the Wifi Internet Access.
2. Interested student must own a laptop and may apply for free wifi access by filing the application form at the Director’s Office or the Cyber Library/Network Office.
3. The subscriber’s laptop must be registered in the Library server by the Cyber Library/Network In charge.
4. The student with personal wifi access is restricted to use any of the workstations/computers in the Cyber Library.
5. The wifi account is non-transferable. Only the subscriber can use the account in his/her own laptop.
6. Wifi is accessible only from the routers of the library and the registrar’s office, thus registered student can station at any wifi zones such as the library, high school kiosk, tree house or alumni garden.
7. Use headphones when assigned-course hypermedia links are searched and opened inside the library.
8. Watching movies or videos for leisure are not allowed inside the libraries.
9. Playing computer and online games are prohibited inside the libraries.
10. Facebook and Youtube sites are allowed only from 12:00-1:00 and 5:00-7:00 P.M.
11. SCC adheres to strict prohibition of entering or transmitting of obscene/pornographic sites/ materials and questionable sites in the offices, computer laboratories, libraries and wifi areas.
12. Appropriate sanction such as outright disconnection to the internet will be imposed to those who violate all the guidelines.

Note:  For faculty and Staff
    Faculty/Staff wifi subscribers shall pay subscription fee of P50.00 monthly. Payment could be in cash or salary deduction every end of the month. 

Library General Rules and Regulations



1.      Observe silence.  Idle or loud conversation, laughter and other unnecessary noise disturb other clientele and must therefore be avoided.
2.     Mobile phones shall be switched to silent mode while inside the library, however, phone calls shall be answered outside the library.
3.     Eating and smoking, sleeping and doing industrial work are not allowed inside the library. 
4.     Keep the library clean. Do not throw or leave waste papers or scraps on the tables and floors. Trash boxes are provided for the purpose.
5.     Keep the things in order.   Push your chair back against the table when you leave the library so it would not obstruct the movement of others. Chairs should not be dragged from one place to another.
6.     Books in the reading areas should not be returned to the shelves but leave the books on the tables to avoid their being misplaced.  Individual volumes belonging to a set such as encyclopedias should be returned to their proper places or shelves.
7.      Handle books and other materials with care as they intend to serve great many users after you.
8.     A properly validated school ID must be presented at the Loan Counter whenever library materials are called for. Such Card is non-transferable. The owner of the card is liable for any transaction made in the library by another person.
9.     When returning library materials to the counter, be sure to get back your school ID card. The library will assume no responsibility for exchange or for loss of such card after you have left the counter.
10.   Do not leave your things unattended. The Library is not liable for the loss of any valuable personal things like laptop, wallet with money, calculator, cell phone, diskettes, optical disks and others that are left unattended inside the library.
11.    Facebook and Youtube are allowed only from 12:00 - 1:00 Noon and 5:00 - 7:00 PM, inclusive of SCC's wifi or personal connection.
12.   Watching movies or videos for leisure are not allowed inside the libraries.

13.   Complains and problems concerning library services should be brought immediately to the attention of the librarians and staff or Director of Libraries. 



Discussion Room

           The Discussion Room can be used by small group of students who will discuss something about their assignments, research or any group works. Reservations can be made at the Graduate School Library Counter/desk.


Borrowing Books/Library Materials (Loan)

             A properly validated School ID must be presented at the Loan/Reserved/Circulation Counters whenever library materials are borrowed.  Owner of School ID is liable for any transaction made in the library. So do not allow other student to use your School ID.

The College of Theology Library, High School Library and Elementary School Library require Borrower’s Card in loaning books.

1.      Stack and Fiction Books 
1.1             May be borrowed for one (1) week, renewable for another week, unless requested by another user.
1.2            A borrower is limited to borrow three (3) volumes at a time; and is limited to not more than five (5) renewals.

2.     Reserve Books
2.1            May be borrowed for an hour or more for use within the library only.
2.2           May be charged out for home use for “overnoon”, “overnight” and “overweekend” basis.

2.3           Books borrowed “overnight” must be returned on or before 8:00 A.M. of the following day. Books borrowed “over-noon” must be returned on or before 2:30 P.M. of the same day. “Over-weekend” books must be returned Monday on or before 8:00 A.M.

3.     The following materials are to be used/read only inside the library/EMRC:
3.1            Filipiniana Books particularly those identified as Philippine Studies books
3.2           Special Collection
3.3           Educational Media Resources (VHS, Cassette Tapes, Optical Disks)
3.4           Vertical File Clippings / Pamphlet Files
3.5           General Reference Materials
3.6           Newspapers and Magazines (loose issues or bound)
(A special consideration is given to Faculty/Staff who wants to borrow from the above-mentioned sections/areas)
3.7            Thesis and Dissertations (Photocopying or reproduction of any page is prohibited)

Fines and Penalties

A.  Overdue Books

1.   Stack, Fiction, Asiana Books - P 1.00 a day, excluding Sundays and holidays with maximum charge of P30.00 a month/book.

2.  Reserved Books  - P 1.00 for the first hour or a fraction of the first hour, .50 cents/hr                                                                               for the next succeeding hours: P5.00 for each full day with the maximum charge of P30.00 a week/book.

B.  Lost Books
When a book is lost, the borrower should report immediately to the librarian/staff on duty. A borrower who loses a book is obliged to replace the book with the same kind, title, author and copyright date. In case the lost book is out of print or is no longer available in the market, a payment of the full current cost is required plus /P50.00 will be charged for the processing fee of the said lost material. The Guidelines for Changing Lost Books may be referred to books without records of price.

C.  Damaging, Mutilating, or Vandalizing of Library Materials
Anyone found guilty of damaging, mutilating, or vandalizing of library materials shall be subjected to disciplinary action as sanctioned by the Department of Education and Culture (DECS-DepEd) depending on the gravity of the offense.  In addition, he/she will be made to pay a fine of P100.00 plus the cost of acquiring a replacement of the stolen/damaged material. He may be suspended from attending classes and from using the library and from borrowing materials.
